After a few more variations, this is the one I like the most. It's still very colorful, and the yellow/green color makes it feel a little more insect-ee. The addition of the red-dots and the purple and white stripes satisfies some deeper story parallels I was hoping to squeeze in too. Rendered in the scene next to the mantis seals the deal. This is the one!
